Haylage
Grass mown, wilted for a day or so, then baled and wrapped tight the same afternoon. Soft, low in dust and gently fermented, kind to a horse with a cough or a fussy chest.

Small Bales
Handy small square bales, roughly 18–22kg apiece. Light enough to carry one-handed and stack in a tidy corner, made for smallholders and back-paddock owners.

Every bale that leaves Chalk Lane began as grass on our own ground. Martin drops the mower the moment a fair weather window opens, the crop dries in our own fields, and it comes in through our own barn doors. Nothing is drawn from elsewhere and nothing is blended in.

From native ponies to a field of ewes
Our forage keeps good company across the South East: happy hackers and competition horses, retired ponies on careful rations, house cows, pens of sheep, a few alpacas and the odd well-fed rabbit. Different animals want different things, so we cure the crop three ways rather than one.
