Trailer runs across the South East.
We take our own hay out on our own trailer, working out from Sidlesham across West Sussex and on into Hampshire, Surrey and the wider South East. It is priced on the distance and the amount you order rather than counted by the bale, so a fuller load always comes out kinder per bale than a handful.
Where we run
- West Sussex. Chichester, Bognor Regis, Arundel, Worthing, Petworth and Midhurst, plus the villages in between.
- Hampshire. Petersfield, Havant, Emsworth and out to Hayling Island.
- Surrey. Guildford, Haslemere, Cranleigh and the lanes around them.
- Beyond the usual patch. Just ask. If the order is big enough we can generally reach further into the South East.

Got a trailer, or a sturdy 4×4 with a tow hitch? Coming to us at Chalk Lane is nearly always the cheapest route. We will have your bales pulled and waiting, and there is always a pair of hands about to help you stack and rope down before you set off.
Worth knowing
- Give us a call before you set out. That way we know to expect you and your hay is ready by the gate.
- Bring straps and a sheet. Loose bales on the open road do nobody any favours.
- Cash, card or bank transfer. Whichever is simplest on the day.

How an order comes together.
- Have a word. Tell us what you are feeding, roughly the quantity, and the yard or field it is bound for.
- We price it up. One clear figure for the hay and, if we are bringing it, the run out to you. Nothing sprung on you later.
- You say the word. We pencil in a delivery window, or a time for you to come and collect.
- The hay turns up. On our trailer at your gate, or ready and waiting when you reach the barn. We lend a hand loading either way.
- Settle up. On the day, by cash, card or BACS.
We are a farm first, so a little notice helps.
We will always try to turn an order round quickly, and most local loads leave within a few days of your call. In the thick of haymaking, though, a settled forecast means we are out in the field while the weather holds, so ring early in the day if something is urgent and we will do our best to fit you in.
For the winter, the surest plan is to book ahead. A standing order through the cold months lets us set your hay aside from the barn, so you are never caught short once the grass stops growing.
